Dialog-CNC, EMG 8860

An embargo-breaking device developed in the late 1970s at MTA-SZTAKI and manufactured at EMG (Electronic Measuring Equipment Factory). From 1980 to 2014, it operated in Hajdúböszörmény, according to the built-in clock, for almost 63,000 hours as a controller of a three-axis machining centre. The two main parts of the Dialog-CNC are: a numerical machine tool control comprising an interpolator, a resolver drive control and a decoupled I/O system, built from 24-bit serial arithmetic arithmetic per axis; and a computer program control supporting Dialog, based on a 6800 microprocessor and using a very advanced menu system. Both parts are of excellent design and robust construction, resulting in high reliability and accuracy.
