X.25 network device family

Almost at the same time as the X.25 CCITT Recommendation was being prepared, several working versions were being developed in two places at SZTAKI, the Computer and Networking Department on MS700 multi-microprocessor and R10, the Electronics Department (in Laxemburg) on TPA 70, and the COBUS local area network development, which performed very similar tasks. In the meantime, academic networking needs were emerging, but due to the embargo, a modern packet-switched system was not available. At that time, Péter Bakonyi, László Csaba and Pál Verebély took the risk of combining their existing developments and developers to implement the X.25-based academic network on a proprietary and production basis. The decision was a success and ensured the IIF's survival until the Internet invasion.
